REAR ADMIRAL (UH) SERDAR DÜLGER
COMMANDANT OF THE TURKISH COAST GUARD
 

Rear Admiral (UH) Serdar DÜLGER, 14th Commandant of the Turkish Coast Guard Command, was born in İSTANBUL on August 12th, 1954. He is a 1971 graduate of the Turkish Naval High School. Then he graduated from the Turkish Naval Academy in 1974 with the rank of “Navy Ensign”.

Following the Officer Basic Specialization Course between the years of 1974–1975, he attended the Submarine Officer Specialization Course and “On the Job Training (OJT)” between the years of 1975–1976 and become a submariner.

As for the operational sea duty assignments; Having served on board of various classes of the Turkish Navy submarines as branch officer and as senior department officer, Rear Admiral DÜLGER was assigned as the Executive Officer of TCG DOĞANAY and TCG SALDIRAY between the years of 1985–1988. as the Commanding Officer of TCG ATILAY and TCG DOLUNAY between the years of 1990–1993, as Chief of Staff (COS) of the Turkish Submarine Group Command between the years of 1999–2000 and as Commodore of the Turkish Submarine Division I between the years of 2000–2001.

As for the ashore duty assignments; Rear Admiral DÜLGER served as Chief of Operations Group and as Training Analysis Evaluation Officer of Operational Training Section in the Turkish Fleet Command HQ between the years of 1988–1990, as Staff Officer at the Alarm and Warning Implementation Section of the Intelligence Department in the NATO IMS HQ/BELGIUM between the years of 1993–1996, as Chief of Staff (COS) of the Aksaz Naval Base Command between the years of 1996–1998, as Private Secretary to the Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces between the years of 1998–1999, as Head of the Projects Administration and Budgetary Programming Division of the Plans and Policy Department in the Turkish Naval Forces Command HQ between the years of 2001–2002 and as Commander of the Turkish Naval High School between the years of 2002–2003.

Rear Admiral DÜLGER graduated from the Turkish Naval Staff College in 1985, from the United Kingdom Naval Staff College in 1989 and from the Turkish Armed Forces College in 2000, respectively.

Rear Admiral DÜLGER was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral (LH) on August 30th, 2003, after which he was assigned as Head of the Plans and Policy Division in the Turkish Ministry of National Defense between the years of 2003–2006. Having completed his tenure he served as Commander of the Turkish Submarine Group between the years of 2006–2008.

Rear Admiral DÜLGER was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral (UH) on August 30th, 2006, after which he served as Naval Commander of the Çanakkale Strait between the years of 2008-2009 and as Head of the Greece and Cyprus Relations Division of the Plans and Policy Department in the Turkish General Staff HQ between the years of 2009–2011.

Rear Admiral (UH) Serdar DÜLGER became the 14th Commandant of Turkish Coast Guard on August 10th, 2011.

Rear Admiral (UH) Serdar DÜLGER is married to Mrs. Handan DÜLGER and has two sons (namely Mutlu and Kaan). He speaks English as a foreign language.
